What to Expect When You Get Dental Implants

  • November 15, 2018

We understand that it can be daunting to go to the dentist. You might have had a negative experience or put off your dental visits before. With our warm and caring team, we want to change your mind about dental care. No matter which procedure you have with us, we want you to know that we put your comfort and safety at the forefront of everything.

 Your First Step: The Consultation

If you’re interested in dental implants, the procedure is more straightforward than you might think. Our state-of-the-art approach keeps every visit with us simple and efficient. The first step is to book in for a consultation with our team. We’ll meet with you to discuss your concerns and perform an examination of your mouth. With these steps, we can gather the information needed to determine if you’re a candidate for dental implants.

If your case is suitable and you decide to move forward, you’ll have two more appointments necessary to get your dental implant.

Stage Two: Implant Placementwoman crossed arms

At your next appointment, the dental implant will be surgically implanted in your jawbone. You’ll be comfortably under anaesthesia the entire time, minimising any discomfort that you may feel. A healing period must be allowed to pass afterwards, typically taking about three months. During this time, your jawbone will grow around the implant, accepting it like the root of a natural tooth.

Once the site has healed, you can move onto the final stage of the implant process.

The Final Phase: Restoration

When you return, we’ll look at your implant site to be sure that everything has healed just as it should. If so, it will be time to have your crown, dental bridge or denture placed. If you’ve had a single tooth replaced, a dental crown will be affixed to your implant. A dental bridge is suitable for replacing multiple teeth. Dentures can replace most or all of your teeth that have been lost.

Our Dental Implant Promotion

If you need a dental implant and are an eligible health fund member, you won’t pay a gap for your procedure. The terms and conditions include that you have to be evaluated for your candidacy first, can receive just 1-2 implants and cannot have a grafting procedure involved. If you don’t have dental cover, we’ll be happy to discuss a discount for your dental implant and will give you a price quote with no obligation.
