What Is a Denture?

A denture is a removable prosthetic designed to fit into the open space created by teeth that have been lost. They can be worn during the day and taken out at night to be soaked in a cleaning solution.

Available in both full and partial forms, different materials can be used to create your denture depending on what is most appropriate for your situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Someone with severely decayed teeth or those missing multiple teeth are an ideal candidate for dentures. The best way to find out what’s right for you is to visit our practice for an initial consultation.
Generally, two appointments are needed. During the first visit, Dr Sav Ramakrishnan (Dentist) will perform a full evaluation of your mouth and inform you of all your possible treatment options. If you choose to have dentures, we’ll gather impressions and other information that the laboratory uses to fabricate your denture. When it’s complete, you’ll return for a second appointment where we’ll fit your denture.

When we place dentures, we’ll use anaesthetic so that you won’t feel a thing. If you’re nervous about care, we’re happy to discuss other options including sedation or sleep dentistry—simply ask us at your next appointment

Because each patient is unique, it’s difficult to give a set price for dentures in Berwick. During your consultation, we’ll examine your mouth and make our specific recommendations for your unique needs. We take pride in being totally transparent with our patients, and will go over the price for you so there aren’t any future surprises. If you’re in agreement, we can move forward with care.

It can take up to a few weeks to become used to the feel of having a denture, particularly if you’ve never worn one before. Rest assured that you can always return to us with any issues that you may encounter and we will be happy to make any necessary adjustments.

At our practice, we pride ourselves on using state-of-the-art technology to carefully craft your new dentures, meaning they’re made of the highest quality material that’s also extremely durable and should last you for years to come. With that being said, you’ll need to properly care for your new teeth by keeping them clean, your gums healthy, and maintaining your regular appointments with us.
